RESEARCH IMPACT

Research innovation improves lives and generates significant economic impact for Arizona – bringing in $1.1 billion in research expenditures in FY 2016 alone.

Through research, millions of dollars are reinvested annually into the community, and technology transfer operations at each of Arizona’s public universities brings research from the lab to the marketplace.

The breadth of research at our universities and the real impact discoveries have on our society are significant. From technology that improves a speech language pathologist’s ability to make better decisions about treatment, to robotic prosthetics that simulate muscle contractions, to a mobile application that connects people to lend and borrow goods and services within a private social network—the impact of the universities’ research has a global reach.

As part of its strategic plan, the board has set aggressive goals for research at the universities, including metrics for total research activity, invention disclosures transacted, and licenses and options executed.

Research works, for Arizona and society at large. Read more in the ABOR Annual Research Report.
